Interview with Alix Becle

Name: Alix Becle

Age: 19 Years

Cardistry: 3 Years

FromStrasbourg, France

I’m best known for my project "Staircase Studies".

SHIVRAJ: How did you get into cardistry or where did you see it first?

ALIX: I got into cardistry like anyone else, I started with magic and stumbled upon some cardistry tutorials like the "spring" and the "flicker" and I was hooked. I didn't get into it seriously at first but then it became addictive.

SHIVRAJ: How would you define 'cardistry' in your own words?

ALIXCardistry is a way to make people believe anything is possible with any object at any time. It's also a good way to stretch your fingers when in need.

SHIVRAJ: Who/What inspires you the most and why?

ALIXEvery cardist inspires me a lot, with the moves, the flow, the creativity and their way of thinking. But the ones who inspires me the most are the ones who achieve and succeed in life; thanks to cardists, such as Zach Mueller, Andrei Jikh or Tobias Levin and Oliver Sogard. They made cardistry their way of making money which is very impressive.

SHIVRAJ: What is your creative process of making moves?

ALIXI don't have a creative process to make moves, I basically play with cards and whenever I stumble upon something interesting or comfy I work on it until it's comfortable in my hands. I don't think of the way it looks at first, I only think of the comfortness of the move or the challenge behind it.

SHIVRAJ: How do you overcome a 'Creative Block'?

ALIX: I basically stop cardistry until I'm hooked again. I've been in this block since last October. I still play with cards but I don't work on any new moves.

SHIVRAJ: Describe your style in one word/sentence.

SHIVRAJ: What role does the art play in your life or in simple words why do you do it?

ALIXWell there are many ways to answer that question. First of all I got to meet and make new friends from all over the world, then I got the chance to travel a lot because of cardistry, which is something I would never have imagined before cause come on, cardistry is kinda lame, it can't make you travel like that. Finally, it's a great way to make new friends, in class, at parties. It's a great way to bond with others (with the help of magic, sorry, I'm still a magician after all).

SHIVRAJ: How do you think you can help in improving the field of cardistry?

ALIXI have no idea. To be honest I'm very far from being a good cardist, I'm not the smoothest nor the most original, all I can do is give advice for beginners and support the amazing cardists of instagram that are too good to only have a few followers.

SHIVRAJ: What is your favourite move by you or by someone else? What do you like about it?

ALIXMy favourite unoriginal move is "Spin Doctor" by Nikolaj Pedersen, most amazing and smoothest move that exists and will blow away laymen.

My favourite original move is Velvet. Extremly comfy.

SHIVRAJ: Which is your favourite cardistry video of all time?

ALIXCause it's a video that makes you want to create more and enjoy your life even more. So inspiring.

SHIVRAJ: What do you think about the concept 'Cardestroy'?

ALIXI wasn't convinced at first, but now I love it. It's something I never thought was possible and it's so enjoyable to watch. It show that there is so much more potential in cardistry, it opens a new door towards creativity. Congrats Shiv!

SHIVRAJ: What genre of music do you mostly listen to?

ALIXI basically listen to anything apart from two genres. Lana Del Rey is my all time favourite singer.

SHIVRAJ: What do you do other than cardistry?

ALIXI love shopping, partying, hanging out with friends and spend time with my boyfriend. Oh and Netflix.

SHIVRAJ: What are you further planning to do in your life?

ALIXSuch a hard question, I want to finish my studies, and get a job anywhere but not in France. I want to travel a lot and make new friends.

SHIVRAJ: Any contest/contests you've participated in/won?

ALIXI've participated to a SNC by Theory11 and won once, I tried for Cardistry-Con Championship 2016 (lol) and maybe some random contests on Instagram.

SHIVRAJ: Any advice for the community?

ALIX: Stop being mean with beginners, we've all been there and stop being mean or sexist with female cardist, it's annoying.

SHIVRAJ: Any last thoughts? (If any)

ALIXNope. Thanks Shivraj, it was a pleasure finally meeting you in Berlin, you are a very talented guy.

SHIVRAJ: Thanks a lot for your time! Have a nice day, cheers!
