"Ten years from now, make sure you can say that you chose your life, you didn´t settle for it.” - Mandy Hale
SHIVRAJ: How did you get into cardistry or where did you see it first?
MANUELA: First, I started with magic (like most of us) and I recall that I watched some crazy video which I don´t remember exactly but because it was really crazy, I gave it a try.
SHIVRAJ: How would you define 'cardistry' in your own words?
MANUELA: A massage for your fingers.
SHIVRAJ: Who/What inspires you the most and why?
MANUELA: Honestly, seeing people being passionate about something makes me feel stimulated. New projects/ thing or whatever that is new, reinforce that I belong to a challenging community and that means the world to me. I can´t describe with words how deep this influences me.
SHIVRAJ: What is your creative process of making moves?
MANUELA: I normally play around with cards until something different happens and then I try to expand it. When I “finish” I look at all the aspects that I don´t like and I discard them. Personally, I look at cardistry as a way of having fun so I don´t focus so much on what I am doing.
SHIVRAJ: How do you overcome a 'Creative Block'?
MANUELA: I don´t pay attention to this and I keep practicing what I know.
SHIVRAJ: Describe your style in one word/sentence.
SHIVRAJ: What role does the art play in your life or in simple words why do you do it?
MANUELA: Playing with paper is all to me. When I do it I feel like I am doing something that I´m good at.
SHIVRAJ: How do you think you can help in improving the field of cardistry?
MANUELA: I would help to create more material in Spanish because that's one of the difficulties I had to overcome when I started. The lack of even the very basic tutorials in my own language. I think there are a lot of aficionados out there that would appreciate that, and it also will help to expand the scope of this art and make our community even more cosmopolitan.
SHIVRAJ: What is your favourite move by you or by someone else? What do you like about it?
MANUELA: Phobos Deimos by Noel Heath and in fact, it was one of very first flourishes that got me into cardistry.
SHIVRAJ: Which is your favourite cardistry video of all time?
MANUELA: No doubt this is my favorite video!
SHIVRAJ: What do you think about the concept 'Cardestroy'?
MANUELA: I believe that it’s really cool and makes an awesome way of recycling old cards apart from getting amazing stuff.
SHIVRAJ: What genre of music do you mostly listen to?
MANUELA: All the music I listen is in Spanish and my favourite style is “cumbia”.
SHIVRAJ: What do you do other than cardistry?
MANUELA: I´m a full-time student and I practice Taekwondo, actually I’m a black belt.
SHIVRAJ: What are you further planning to do in your life?
MANUELA: I´m really willing to study something related to business at college and push cardistry forward.
SHIVRAJ: Any contest/contests you've participated in/won?
SHIVRAJ: Any advice for the community?
MANUELA: To have gatherings more often and closer to my country… best of all, in my country. You are all invited to stay at my place (... bring your tent)
SHIVRAJ: Any last thoughts? (If any)
MANUELA: TO BE COOL EVERYONE!
SHIVRAJ: Thanks a lot for your time! Have a nice day, cheers!
